Hello Kitty merchandise from Hakan Canta receives top award from Sanrio

Hakan Canta, one of Europe’s leading producers of licensed goods, has won an award for its best-selling range of Hello Kitty products. The announcement was made during a recent ceremony and fashion show held in Istanbul to mark Hello Kitty licensor Sanrio’s 50th anniversary, which was attended by Sanrio Senior Executive Vice-President Kunihiko Tsuji and other senior members of the management team.

Hello Kitty is the iconic little cat that has proved to be a huge success across the world since first launching in Japan 35 years ago. The brand is instantly recognisable and has a huge following amongst girls and young women who love the simple and adorable design. Hakan Canta’s range of Hello Kitty merchandise, which includes BTS bags and school stationery, was chosen by Sanrio as Best Product from all the Hello Kitty licensees in Turkey. As Turkey’s first ever Hello Kitty licensee, the company has a long association with the property and over the years has worked hard to develop the brand and boost its position in the Turkish market.

Hello Kitty is one of a number of high-profile licensees held by Hakan Canta – the firm is based in Istanbul and has been producing quality merchandise since 1955 across sectors including BTS, fashion, travel and sport. Today the company is the market leader for BTS in Turkey and its merchandise is also distributed across more than fifty countries in Europe, the Middle East, Russia and CIS and North Africa. The company’s strong range of licences also includes Barbie, Bakugan, Spider-Man, Manchester United, FC Barcelona, the NBA, Dora the Explorer, High School Musical, SpongeBob Square Pants. “We are delighted that Sanrio has recognised our Hello Kitty range with this award,” says Hakan Hacisoyu of Hakan Canta, “the products are proving to be hugely popular at retail and show just how big a brand Hello Kitty is.”
