Barcelona based Art Ask Agency, are very excited to share the latest news on the addition of a new brand to their roster of lifestyle licenses, the world’s best-loved children’s book author and illustrator of our time, Richard Scarry, via Penguin Random House.
A timeless classic with over 160 million books sold worldwide, and translated in over 35 languages.
Richard Scarry is considered the quintessential book series of one’s childhood. Numerous characters such as Lowly Worm, Huckle Cat, Hilda Hippo and Goldbug all in the detailed worlds created by the illustrator.
Scarry’s stories teach young children the concept of community and makes adulthood seem industrious and purposeful.
More than 300 of Richard Scarry’s books have been published, and together they have sold over 160 million copies around the world and in over 35 languages. This figure continues to grow through the ongoing release of new titles, the introduction of innovative novelty formats and the expansion of the brand’s global publishing program.

2024 was the 50th anniversary for Cars and Trucks and Things That Go which is one of the bestselling children’s books of all time with 3.2 million copies sold.
2025 saw the launch of two significant licensed product ranges. A collab with Italian fashion brand Bottega Veneta with a beautiful range of bags and accessories for adults inspired by the whimsical characters of Richard Scarry including the iconic Lowly worm. Uniqlo baby wear was also launched in 2025 under Uniqlo’s Picture Book Collection.

The target markets are: Nostalgic adults, 3-8 year olds, parents of 0-2 year olds and gift givers kids 0-5 years old.
