New licensing programme to “Laura’s Star and the Mysterious Dragon Nian”

“Laura’s Star” – a successful story continues: Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced a strong licensing programme to the new feature film “Laura’s Star and the Mysterious Dragon Nian”. The film tells the story of Laura’s exotic adventures in far China and is launched throughout Germany on 24 September 2009.

Based upon the best-selling book series by Klaus Baumgart, “Laura’s Star” follows the story of little Laura, who one evening finds a star in the street that helps her to cope with everyday worries and hardships. Laura’s books have been sold million times in over 31 countries. The animated series, produced by ZDF and broadcasted by ZDF and Ki.Ka, and the special Christmas episode “Lauras Stern Weihnachtsspecial” also enjoyed overwhelming success. The first Warner Bros. feature film on Laura was launched 2004 to silver screens and inspired more than 1.5 million cinema-goers in Germany. In 2005 the film won the famous German Film Award as Best Children’s Film (Deutscher Filmpreis). 2006 Laura toured Germany with the Ki.Ka Summer Road Show and reached more than 500 000 children.

The Laura brand continuously enjoys a high level of awareness and rising popularity. Now the success story around “Laura’s Star” continues: WBCP developed a strong new licensing programme based upon the upcoming feature film for 2009 “Laura’s Star and the Mysterious Dragon Nian”. Laura travels China and finds new unusual friends, including the friendly dragon Nian. Colourful artwork shows Laura in wonderful Chinese costumes against highly detailed exotic backgrounds.

The world of “Laura’s Star” also includes considerable artwork for road safety education. Specially designed pictures display Laura in traffic situations. Tailor-made for the target group and with high educational value, the pictures especially appeal to children that face difficult traffic situations on their way to school or in their free time: riding their bike around a roundabout, go roller blading in parks, participating in traffic when it’s getting dark, and much more.
