WBCP: Cements Looney Tunes position as active force in promoting fitness for children

Warner Bros. - October 2008

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) springs into Brand Licensing Europe 2008 with Looney Tunes Active!, the brand that uses the iconic Looney Tunes characters as ambassadors of health and fitness.

Looney Tunes Active! launched in 2006 and has quickly evolved into one of the world’s most dynamic licensed properties. Key product lines feature a variety of iconic Looney Tunes characters, including Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Sylvester, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote, Roadrunner and Taz, which have direct appeal to children and their families. Indeed a global consumer research project conducted by Warner Bros. in 10 countries including France, Italy, Germany, Italy, Spain and UK in Spring 2008 confirmed that there is high awareness for the Looney Tunes brand across EMEA. The Looney Tunes characters have positive nostalgic associations for parents who fondly recall the humour of the characters and still consider the brand to have good family appeal.

“The Looney Tunes animated characters are iconic with a global heritage that resonates with children and parents alike. Being naturally active and defined by their unique high-energy humour, they are amongst the most credible characters to promote a more active message to children.” said Pilar Zulueta, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Europe, Middle East and Africa. “The Looney Tunes have been regularly associated with sport in all parts of the world for more than 20 years, therefore Looney Tunes Active! is a natural and very timely evolution for the brand and one that is capturing the imagination of children right across Europe.
