Licensing Market 2008 records more exhibitors than ever before

LIMA Germany - September 2008

Key players of the European licensing industry meet in the glamorous atmosphere of Munich’s grand hotel Bayerischer Hof.

“In no time at all almost all showrooms have been fully booked,” Heike Winner, organisator and managing director, LIMA Germany, happily announced. The exhibitors list features big names like Bavaria Sonor, Copyright Promotions and The Licensing Company, major media companies including MM MerchandisingMedia, Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products, Super RTL and The Walt Disney Company . Due to increasing demand LIMA Germany even had to provide additional showrooms. This year sees a remarkable increase in licensees displaying their product innovations. “Our new extended show concept successfully enticed the industry. For the first time also licensees present their products at the Atrium,” said Winner.

A unique opportunity to introduce retail to the whole diversity and full potential of licensing business. Numerous manufacturers are convinced of this enhanced concept and make their debut this year on the show floor at the Atrium and Cocktail Lounge including BIP Holland, teNeues, IPLPerseco, Hamelin, The Cookie Company and United Labels. Also media support is top-class: W&V, BRANDORA, Das Spielzeug and Licensing Press once more promote the Licensing Market.

There’s not only great response among exhibitors – the Licensing Market, Germany’s Marketplace of Licenses, also receives remarkable financial support from major companies like Bip, ZDF Enterprises, Fipo Group, TLC, TV Mania, Super RTL, Merchandising Media and The Cookie Company as this year’s platinum sponsors. Also United Labels, Nuremberg Toy Fair, Fun Game Media and Herding join and sponsor the major industry event this autumn. 2008 Licensing Market is not only a general overview of high-class licensed properties and a platform for intensive exchange on licensing, but also provides the opportunity to extend knowledge and understanding of licensing through the accompanying academy programme. Three high-level seminar blocks on the Basics of Licensing, Legal Practise, Brand Extension and Field Reports provide insider information and further education. In the morning, brand manufacturers and licensors present their marketing strategies - Jackie Duff, Regional Merchandise Manager, Europe, Eurasia & Africa, Global Licensing and Retail Operations, The Coca Cola Company, talks about their licensing strategies and Diane McGrath, Global Head of Licensing, Reckitt Benckiser provides insights in brand building at Reckitt Benckiser. The afternoon is dedicated to retail. Stefan Hilbck, Karstadt; Martin M. Bieri, Head Strategy & Business Development, Corporate Development International, Media-Saturn, and others present hands-on field reports from the world of retail. The absolute highlight of 2008 Licensing Market is again the glamorous LIMA Gala in the large ballroom of the Bayerischer Hof. Exclusive cocktail reception and glittering gala dinner provide the perfect background for networking, socializing and cultivating relationships. The gala will reach its peak with the acknowledgement of the industry’s best and the presentation of the coveted 2008 LIMA Awards.
