Nickeloden & Viacom Consumer Products obtain exclusive licensing and merchandising rights
to hit number one Rating Show on Nickelodeon UK

Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) has signed a deal with ZDF Enterprises, to secure licensing and merchandising rights to the hit Australian live action kids’ TV show, ‘H20 – Just Add Water‘ in the UK and France.

NVCP in the UK and France will exclusively represent the property across publishing, interactive (PC games, game consoles etc.), apparel, accessories, toys, games and paper product.

The deal, announced today by Clare Piggott, VP, Consumer Products, Nickelodeon UK, will see a licensing programme roll out in the UK, from Autumn 2008. The first phase of product rollout will take place from autumn/winter 2008 and will be followed by a larger range of product launches in Spring 2009. The aspirational and age appropriate ranges will target girls aged 7 to 12.

‘H20 – Just Add Water’ premiered in the UK in April 2007 exclusively on Nickelodeon, and proved to be an instant success. With over 2 million° kids tuning in by the end of the year, it was the #1°° ranking new show amongst girls aged 10-15 and the best performing show of the year on Nickelodeon in it’s time slot°°°.

These days kids in over 120 territories around the world can already enjoy the series on a wide range of television channels including France 2, RTI/Mediaset, Antena 3, Nickelodeon UK, Nickelodeon France, Nickelodeon Spain, Cartoon Network Latin America, Jetix Europe, ORF, YLE, NRK, KBS and TG4.

The magical adventure-drama series is about three teenage friends, with a splash of magic. When three normal teenage girls stumble upon an ancient cavern, they undergo a transformation that will change their lives forever. H2O, sees three very different girls facing everyday teen problems with an added twist – they’re mermaids with incredible powers over water. Emma, Cleo and Rikki are sixteen year old girls growing up on the sun-drenched beaches of the Gold Coast.

H2O is already extremely successful in Australia, enjoying great sales on publishing – one of the top selling ranges in the country – DVDs and fashion, including apparel, footwear, bags, headwear, sunglasses and jewellery so far. Hair dryers, straightners, and seasonal confectionery are additional categories that have been licensed for the programme launch.
