Fictional Programs from ZDF Enterprises are Sales Hits at MIPTV

ZDF Enterprises - April 2007

"H2O - Just Add Water" is the single most successful program

"The most successful programs in terms of worldwide sales at the MIPTV which has just finished were fictional programs," announced Dr. Alexander Coridass, President and CEO of ZDF Enterprises.

"We achieved around 45% of our revenue with fictional programs, followed by children's series with 35% and documentaries with 20%." The new series of Rosenheim Cops, The Specialists and Stolberg all found international buyers, as did the latest TV movies in the Rosamunde Pilcher Collection. However, the single most successful program was the series for young people launched at the last MIPCOM, H2O - Just Add Water, which was sold to TG4 in Ireland, the merchandising specialists CNR and the Latin American Cartoon Network, among others. This means that a mere six months after its launch at MIPCOM 2006 the series has already been sold in over 100 countries.

This time the lion's share of the revenue - 37% - poured in from German-speaking countries, followed by Italy, Scandinavia and Latin America. For example, the German channels n-tv, Planet, Kabel 1, Spiegel TV and the Austrian broadcaster ORF secured the rights for a large number of documentaries, international productions represented by ZDF Enterprises in German-speaking territories. The Swiss channel SF DRS was pleased to purchase the new children's "Little Princess", "Martin Morning" and "Shaolin Wuzang". Mediaset Italy obtained the rights for the successful new ZDF series "Here comes Kalle", the Finnish broadcaster YLE bought the ZDF detective series "Stolberg" as well as reruns of the classic "Derrick". The Danish channel DRTV signed an agreement for a comprehensive package of World War II documentaries, including the series "Hitler’s Henchmen", "Hitler’s Children"; "The War of the Century" and one-offs like "The Berlin Airlift" and "Hitler’s Family".
