Schmidt Spiele® now celebrate even two Austrian Toy Awards. The jury of six experts from the Wiener Spieleakademie has been distinguishing outstanding board games and card games since 2001. Now they awarded the bag building game Die Quacksalber von Quedlinburg the title “Spiele Hit mit Freunden” (Hit Game for Friends) and the dice-rolling game Schlaraffen Affen the title “Spiele Hit für Kinder” (Hit Game for Kids).

The game Die Quacksalber von Quedlinburg designed by Wolfgang Warsch turns two to four players into miracle doctors. To prove their own medical skills every one brews their own potions and challenges all other quacks at the bazaar of Quedlinburg. Players use their intuition to find the right combination of ingredients in their bags. Countless potion books, ingredient chips, fortune-telling cards, and cauldrons support players on their mission to brew the perfect healing potion. Thanks to various combinations, players create countless variants of their concoctions. But watch out: If you do not fetch your cauldron from the fire at just the right time, you risk an explosion!

The children’s game Schlaraffen Affen by designers Amanda Birkinshaw and Jim Harrison pits two to four players aged 5+ against each other in an exciting race for the coveted coconut. While you try to roll the dice cleverly to have your monkeys jump ahead as fast as possible, shrewd monkeys also like to attach themselves to the backs of fellow players to be carried ahead more quickly. Doing so, they have to keep an eye on the cheeky cockatoo who loves to block space in the trees. Whoever is the first to find the correct coconut will be head monkey in the Schlaraffen Affen Forest.
