Within the toys & games segment, we all know and love the category of wheeld toys: first vehicles for small children such as the famous BIG-BOBBY-CAR or the equally unreakable TwiniBike, trikes, scooters, bicycles and four-wheels carts. This category offers various opportunities for Licensing.

Finally, there is also an offer for adults, mainly fathers. If they are looking for a fun product and if they are lucky enough to have enough money to spend and free space in the garage, they might be ready for a new wheeled toy: The licensed Bud Spencer – Buggy from German company Quadix.

Quadix is a distributor of Buggies – fun vehicles that used to be very popular in the US in the 1970ies. The company is based in Bamberg, Germany, a region where you can find numoeruous toy companies.

Of course, the Buggy is a driveable product, sourcing power from a Chinese petrol engine – the typical Volkswagen Beetle engine used in former Buggies would not meet today´s emission standards.

The idea of the Bud Spencer Buggy was initally born when the Quadix-guys watched the 1974 slapstick movie „...altrimenti ci arrabbiamo!“ (Italian OV title) with actors Bud Spencer and Terence Hill.

The licensed Buggy resembles the car from the movie, having a red colour and a yellow canvas top. It also carries Bud Spencer autographs on the seats and the dashboard.

For the limited editon of 100 vehicles, Quadix got the rights from the family of deceased actor Bud Spencer. And the product itself gives us a perfect example of how a license can help increase awareness and the price of a product: While the standard Quadix Vintage Buggy has a price tag of 16.900 Euros in Germany, the Bud Spencer Edition costs 19.990 Euros – including an unnamed royalty rate of course.
