Press Conference to Preview Market Opportunities for Licensing

The 15th HKTDC Hong Kong International Licensing Show and the sixth Asian Licensing Conference, the largest events of their kind in Asia, will kick off on 9 January 2017 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). This year’s International Licensing Show will feature more than 370 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions showcasing a record of more than 900 brands and properties.

A press conference will be held next Wednesday (4 January) to introduce event highlights and the latest developments in licensing. Several exhibitors will display their licensing properties and various mascots from the International Licensing Show will be on hand to meet the press, including RODY and Ori-Princess.

The Licensing Show this year includes top global licensors and brands such as Warner Bros, Sanrio, Caterpillar, Nickelodeon, 20th Century Fox, Rainbow and Smiley. Six pavilions from the Chinese mainland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand will present local brands. The pavilions have been enhanced this year with strong government-level support.

At the press conference, Viacom International Media Networks (the world's 6th largest broadcasting and cable company), a renowned multinational entertainment brand, will analyse licensing opportunities of their brands, MTV and Nickelodeon in Asia. Gordon Chin, CEO of Asia Animation Limited will present their popular animated characters AI Football GGO and Ori Princess and share new licensing strategies. Rightman Publishing Limited will also discuss their experience of licensing from a publisher’s perspective.

Three new lounges, “Van Gogh Senses”, “OMQ DININGROOM” and “Ori-Princess Cafe” will be set up to present different experiences of F&B licensing during the show. “Hong Kong Creative Gallery” will continue to promote local home-grown creativity, showcasing around 70 local licensing properties and original characters created by Hong Kong’s young designers and illustrators, such as Tar Tar, Dream Girl and Boy, Flying Sofye and Pandahaluha.

Meanwhile, 27 licensing experts and guests from various top global brands will speak at the concurrent Asian Licensing Conference on 9 and 10 January. The conference will discuss licensing prospects in Asia and China, in particular the opportunities arising from entertainment, films, games and lifestyle trends.
