ZDF Enterprises and Sony Music Entertainment are delighted by the successful start of the DVD/EST evaluation of the ZDF sketch comedy “Sketch History”, which is currently at number one in the German Comedy Charts.

“Sketch History” is the new sketch comedy on the subject of world history. In ten almost half-hour episodes, this sketch comedy takes the viewer on an entertaining journey through the history of humanity. The journey goes from prehistoric man through the Renaissance, the wild 1970s, right through to the fall of the Berlin Wall. The last minutes in the 1945 bunker will be just as illuminated as the background to the Kennedy assassination and the circumstances that led to the mutiny on the Bounty.

“Sketch History – News from Yesterday” illustrates in a real battle of images and costumes how history became what it never was. Linked by remarkable animation, the individual, always image-opulent sketches leap wildly from one era to the next and show the actually true stories behind world history with the help of special effects, masks, costumes and CGI.

An ensemble of leading actors and comedians in “Sketch History” slip into the roles of Joan of Arc, Joseph Goebbels, Caesar and many others, while Bastian Pastewka comments off-screen on the amusing world events. The spectacle is produced by HPR Bild & Ton, together with Warner Bros. Germany.

Sylvia Brucker, VP ZDFE.entertainment at ZDF Enterprises:“We are delighted by the great success of this incredibly funny production, which we market as a format as well as a complete programme. Thanks to “Sketch History”, the new sketch comedy programming has had a fantastic start in our distribution catalogue.”

Armin Delmar, Senior-PM/A&R Spassgesellschaft!, Commercial Division Family & Home Entertainment for Sony Music Entertainment Germany GmbH: „From the very first episode, we felt that "Sketch History" is a pleasant and entertaining program treasure. We are pleased to be marketing this format with ZDF Enterprises.“
