The successful ZDF miniseries "Ku'damm 56" is being continued under the working title "Ku'damm 59". ZDF and the production company UFA are already working on continuing it together with screenwriter Annette Hess. The same venue and cast are being retained and the continued life of Caterina Schöllack and her three daughters, their aspirations and their emancipation in the restrictive time of the 50s will be told.

"As the global distributor, we are really looking forward to continuing this high-profile production. Its success story only shows the growing international importance of German series and it will now continue in the future with these new episodes," explained Alexander Coridass, President and CEO at ZDF Enterprises.

"Ku'damm 56" aired on ZDF in March 2016 and was very successful. The average market share of the three parts was 17.5 percent and a 19.8 percent share was achieved at its peak. The program also gained a lot of attention on the social media platforms and in the ZDFmediathek: the films on "Ku'damm 56" are still the most successful fictional demand videos of the year 2016.

The three-part series has also met with great success internationally. "Ku'damm 56" was the only German production to be shown to twelve international high-end drama series program buyers and the trade press from around the world at this year’s MIPDrama screenings in Cannes. ZDF Enterprises, the company responsible for the worldwide distribution of the three-part series, has managed to sell the series in the US, UK, Denmark, Slovakia and Estonia so far. Back in May of this year, "Ku'damm 56" was broadcast on the Danish channel DR2 and was even able to double the average market share of the broadcasting slot. ZDF Enterprises is currently also negotiating with prospective customers from Sweden, Norway, Finland, France and the Benelux countries. Other large markets that are showing strong interest include Eastern and Western Europe, as well as Latin America. Inquiries have also been received on the format rights.

"Ku'damm 59" is a UFA fiction production commissioned by ZDF. The Producer is Benjamin Benedict, the Executive Producer Marc Lepetit. Heike Hempel and Bastian Wagner are the editors responsible at ZDF; ZDF Enterprises will again be responsible for global distribution.
