ZDFs’ Three-parter Ku'damm 56 – Rebel With a Cause Nominated for MIPDrama Screenings in Cannes

‘Ku'damm 56 – Rebel With a Cause’ (3 x 90’) is one of just 12 high-end, international drama series that will be screened for the first time to buyers and press from around the world at the inaugural MIPDrama Screenings. It is also the only German-language or German-produced program in the line-up.The three-parter will be aired on German broadcaster ZDF on 20th, 21st and 23rd March 2016 at 8:15 pm.

‘Ku'damm 56 – Rebel With a Cause’ depicts the lives of four women in a Berlin dance school of 1956, which becomes the arena for the battle between sexual revolution and conservatism, with rock 'n' roll as the personification of this conflict. The stories of Caterina Schöllack (Claudia Michelsen) and her three daughters are emblematic of many biographies of the 1950s, in which a woman's life continued to be determined by her position at her husband's side.

The MIPDrama Screenings will take place on 3 April 2016 in Cannes, one day before the start of MIPTV, the leading international trade fair for the TV and digital market, and will enable around 350 programme buyers and press representatives from all over the world to be the first to get an exclusive look at high-quality new programmes. For the screenings, the best titles out of submissions from 28 countries (Europe, USA, Canada, Latin America and Asia) were selected by a jury made up of leading showrunners and programme creators. The event closes with the presentation of the ‘Coup de Coeur’ award by the MIP Markets Drama Buyers Advisory Board.
