Classy espresso sets for connoisseurs – cup, saucer, and Piccolo by Schuco

Shortly after the espresso had set off from its hometown Milano to see the world it has become the most popular type of coffee in Southern Europe. But not only nations like Italy, Spain, and Portugal love espresso; also in Germany the hot beverage with its unmistakable crema enjoys tremendous popularity. The little “pick-me-up” is usually served in a classy espresso cup with sugar and a glass of water.

Today, artfully designed espresso cups not only serve to hold your favourite drink. They also serve as popular collectible items and are proudly displayed on espresso machines or glass cabinets. Schuco presents four sets, each consisting of a timeless espresso cup with saucer and a Piccolo. The china is adorned with prints of classic Schuco ads from the 1950s and 1960s.

Another classic item is the Piccolo by Schuco. When the first twelve models of the Schuco Piccolo range were introduced to the market in 1957, hardly anyone might have guessed that these special models would still enjoy such a tremendous popularity more than 50 years later. It has to be the plain, sturdy but charming design of these massive models. Originally caused by the then innovative casting technique, it still generates enthusiasm in collectors and fanciers of today.

At this year’s International Toy Fair in Nuremberg Schuco presented another two gift sets, the Edition V "Grand Prix Racer" and the Edition VI "Varianto", both consisting of a customized espresso cup and a matching Piccolo. Two collectors’ items combined in one set make a wonderful gift for young and old.
