Deal broadens toymaker’s reach into entertainment licensing

Toy State, a toy industry leader and innovator, has recently agreed to terms on a global licensing deal with entertainment giant, Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, to produce licensed products featuring the DC Super Friends brand.

It’s with great excitement that we announce our new global partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products,” said Andy Friess, Toy State president. “DC Comics is a legendary brand and has been redefining the Super Hero genre for decades. We look forward to adding Toy State product design and innovation to DC Super Friends at retail.

The DC Super Friends feature many of the most notable DC Comics Super Heroes, such as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, with stories that reinforce the positive messages of friendship and teamwork. Targeted at children ages 3 to 7, Toy State’s product line will consist of remote-controlled vehicles featuring popular DC Comics characters and will incorporate their best-in-class quality, as well as the innovative ‘lights and sound’ features the company has become known for during its 30+ years in business. Distributed under the Nikko brand, product is scheduled to hit retail shelves in mid-2016.

Toy State is the perfect partner for DC Super Friends,” says Paul Bufton, Vice President, Licensing and Business Development, WBCP EMEA. “Just as they are big fans of our brand, we have long been fans of Toy State and the innovative range of products they develop each year. DC Comics has a rich history with a deep character portfolio, and we can’t wait to watch Toy State create vehicles that bring our characters to life in new and exciting ways.

It’s not every day that someone gets an opportunity to say this, but we’re thrilled to welcome Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and all of the DC Super Friends to the Toy State team,” said Friess.
