The company, which started from the small beginnings of a market stand in 2001 and has grown to stocking over 250 international accounts worldwide, is set to bring its unique design twist and company ethos to the Batman brand. Under the terms of the licensing agreement, Lazy Oaf has taken the global rights to the vast archive of iconic Batman artwork that they will use on a fashion-forward capsule of clothing and accessories collections for men and women that launches in-store and online in the UK, Japan, Korea and USA today. The launch of the collection coincides with the theatrical release of the much-anticipated blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises, which hits cinema screens on 20 July 2012. "We’re very excited about working with Warner Bros. Consumer Products,” says Lazy Oaf Founder and Designer Gemma Shiel. “We’ve had a great time trawling through archives and putting together some bold prints using the iconic DC Comics Batman artwork. The collection is directional and fun - it channels the inner-nerdy kid in all of us and gives us something a little more grown-up to wear." The women’s collection features a repeat Batman logo print on a body suit, leggings, body-con dress and Victoria shirt. The range also features a sheer bat crop top with a flock finish, Lazy Oaf’s classic oversized women’s t-shirt and a bat wing shirt-dress inspired by Batgirl herself. The men’s collection sees DC Comic characters and bold bat prints covering short sleeve Hawaiian style shirts, bold icon printed t-shirts and crew neck printed sweatshirts. Also included in the range is a Batman logo 'Old Skool' rucksack. “Lazy Oaf’s unique interpretation of the classic, iconic DC Comics Batman artwork will enable them to partner with aspirational stores such as ASOS, Collette, Nasty Gal and Joyrich Tokyo and will bring the Batman brand to an often elusive audience that is typically difficult to reach with character iconography,” said Paul Bufton, General Manager, Warner Bros. Consumer Products UK. Lazy Oaf is planning a series of events to launch the Batman collection. These brand hosted a private press party at Hoxton’s Electricity Showrooms on Thursday 12 July 2012 that included live bands, DJ’s and beverages, and an official consumer launch takes place at Lazy Oaf’s Soho store today from 6pm-8pm, which will be the first opportunity for customers to get their hands on the range. |
