Schnappt Hubi! is Children’s Game of the Year 2012

Ravensburger - June 2012

The concept of hunting ghosts with a magical compass in a haunted house convinced the jury: The children’s game Schnappt Hubi! by game designer Steffen Bogen has just won the German “2012 Children’s Game of the Year” award in Hamburg. “Children make first tactical decisions, discuss sensible arrangements and are forced to listen closely. All this makes the game outstanding and different every time you play”, said the expert jury to explain their decision.

A talking compass that knows a secret path through a haunted house, magical walls that give way only to nimble mice and cunning rabbits and a hungry ghost that nicks cheese and hides: Schnappt Hubi! is an electronic board game for children aged 5+. Audio play elements and instructions given by a talking compass allow young players to completely immerse in a fascinating, interactive ghost story. “Everyone wants to enter Hubi’s haunted house. Nobody is able to resist its magical atmosphere”, said the “Children’s Game of the Year” jury that tested different board games together with children. “The integrated electronic device … enhances the shared experience and cleverly leads through the game. Children and grown-ups alike share the excitement.”

Game designer Dr. Steffen Bogen works and lives in Constance at Lake Constance in Germany. He is lecturer in history of art at the local university. “For me, it’s a dream come true”, he said after the awards ceremony in Hamburg.

The electronic board game Schnappt Hubi! is suitable for children aged 5+. The electronic unit allows players to choose from three different levels of difficulty.
