Active Merchandising expand their licensing portfolio: As of now they hold the licensing rights to market “Peppa Pig” and “Tom & the Slice of Bread with Strawberry Jam & Honey” in German-speaking territories.

 

The latest addition to Anita van Esch’s successful portfolio is the award-winning animated series “Peppa Pig” from the UK. In Germany, the show has been airing on KI.KA since October 2005. Target demographic is kids aged 2-6 years.

Peppa Pig is a lively, curious and resourceful little girl pig in a red dress. “Mushy mud” is what she loves most and she likes nothing more than puddle jumping after a heavy shower of rain. Enthusiastically, she tumbles from one adventure to the next. Doing so, she sometimes appears a little bossy, but no-one can be mad at her for long.

The little pig family enjoys tremendous popularity in the UK – due to her show on TV and her merchandise on retail shelves. Two “Peppa Pig” DVDs have already entered the German market. Licensing partner is Polyband, distributor WVG Medien from Hamburg.

Tom & the Slice of Bread with Strawberry Jam & Honey
Tom is a modern kind of matchstick man. He is a lanky, spectacled guy and always very hungry! In a way, he is just like you and me. Whenever he has got it into his head, he does almost everything to have it – and “it” is always a slice of bread with strawberry jam and honey! On his search, he cheerfully skips through his colourful children’s cosmos looking for new hilarious adventures. And in the end he achieves his aim – his slice of bread with strawberry jam and honey. Tom’s world – playfully – revolves around values like give and take, imagination, curiosity, strength of purpose, modesty, helpfulness, communication and co-existence. What’s most important: While the show tells about the basic things in life, Tom always focuses on the fun side and carefully refrains from finger-wagging.

Target demographic of the TV show and merchandise is boys and girls aged 3-8 years. The animated series from Germany also airs on KI.KA. Tom’s dedicated website won the coveted Grimme Online Award 2009 and received the GIGA Maus 2010 as “Best Online Service of the Year”. In July 2011, Universum Film launched their first “Tom” DVD to the market; a second release followed on 14 October 2011. End of 2011, Mühlhäuser from Mönchengladbach will launch licensed strawberry jam with honey to the German market – perfect to the property! Other flavours will follow – but always with honey. This product launch marks the successful start of a whole range of promising merchandise to accompany Tom and his slice of bread with strawberry jam and honey.
