Studio 100: "Maya the Bee likes to play”

Studio100 Media - September 2011

Studio100, the leading European entertainment group, is proud to announce their new agreement with VTECH and IMC Toys, two major toy partners, on Maya the Bee.

VTECH will develop and release a line of electronic educational toys in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, the Benelux countries and Spain. The first products, a Maya laptop and electronic book, will be released by the end of 2012. The rest of the range will be launched the following year upon international broadcast.

IMC will offer a wide range of plastic and soft toys composed of playsets, figurines, vehicles, a Maya Story teller as well as musical items... The agreement covers Eastern and Central Europe, Scandinavia, Turkey and Latin America. This agreement has been added to a previous contract covering Germany and Southern Europe. The release date is planned between late 2012 and 2013 upon broadcast of the new CGI series.

Maya the Bee is a classic brand, which has been brought back by Studio100 for old and new fans alike, with a breathtaking new CGI series of 78 episodes, each 13 minutes long. The TV series will be aired on national channels internationally from 2013 onwards.

These two major toy partners strengthen the leading position of Maya the Bee on the international scene and add to the existing 160 licensees. “We are always looking for top-class global brands for our high-tech educational toys and the new Maya CGI series really met our needs. The outstanding CGI animation as well as Maya's overall universe are a perfect fit for our VTECH line and we trust that the public will like it as much as we do.” says Gilles Sautier, CEO VTech Europe.

“We have developed a range of toys closely linked to Maya the Bee and her world, full of details that will dazzle both preschoolers and their mums. We are very excited with the results and believe that this will help reposition Maya as the iconic character it used to be more than 30 years ago when it was first launched” says Jacob Levy, Licensor Director from IMC Toys.
