At this spring’s MIPDOC (2-3 April) and MIPTV (4-7 April) trade fairs in Cannes, ZDF Enterprises will be launching its new online screening service at www.zdf-enterprises.de. Registered users can view not only trailers, but also entire programs in their full length and will enjoy many other benefits. It’s another measure being taken by ZDF Enterprises to offer its clients the best service available and - anyone registered by 31st May will automatically participate in a sweepstake and may win one out of three iPads.

In keeping with the spring market’s traditional accent on documentaries, ZDF Enterprises will be showcasing a number of its new factual series. These high-intensity “docutainment” programs coproduced with prestigious partners such as National Geographic Channel US and Discovery Channel Canada are designed to appeal not only to documentary lovers, but also to audiences not customarily drawn to such programs. They include forays into the dangerous nighttime activities of America’s repo men in “Repossessed!” (10 x 50’), the on-the-edge life of prisoners and guards at a maximum security prison in “Hard Time” (6 x 50’), and the nerve-racking work of men drilling for gas in the Canadian Arctic in “Licence to Drill” (6 x 45’).

Also among the documentary highlights is the provocative “9/11: Science and Conspiracy” (1 x 95’), which should be in great demand for the coming tenth-anniversary commemorations. “Dawn of the Ocean” (1 x 90’ / 3 x 50’) explores the evolution of the world’s seas and marine life, and features a 3D web module which lets users plunge into an interactive water world. Another sea-worthy series comes in the form of “Adventure Ocean Quest” (5 x 52’), featuring freediver Frederic Buyle who, thanks to his superb apnoea diving technique, gets as near as their maritime fellows without disturbing the perfectly balanced environment . While some new docs seek to identify “Jack the Ripper” (1 x 50’) and find “Egypt’s Lost Rival” (1 x 50’) in the Syrian desert, others head for outer space in “A Traveler’s Guide to the Planets” (6 x 50’) and “Mars: Making the New Earth” (1 x 50’).

At MIPTV the firm’s children´s program division will feature the new live-action adventure film “The Hunt for Hannibal’s Treasure” (1 x 90’) and the charmingly witty, refreshingly loopy animated series about the world’s first and only zoo crime solver: “Sherlock Yack – Zoo Detective” (52 x 13’). The new adventures of “Marsupilami” (52 x 26’) will pursue the ongoings of its extraordinary protagonist, just as the second season of “The Elephant Princess” (52 x 26’).

Buyers can also look forward to top-of-the-line drama in the second, fast-and-furious season of “The Protectors” (10 x 60’ / 5 x 100’), which features tighter emotional bonds, greater dangers, and cases that are more explosive than ever. Also from Scandinavia are two police thrillers featuring Rolf Lassgård as Sweden’s top police profiler “Sebastian Bergman” (2 x 100’). A special treat for fans of sophisticated robber capers is “Jack of Diamonds” (1 x 90’), about an elegant French jewel thief and his partner, a young tennis pro. Female audiences can look forward to love, passion, intrigue and broken hearts in need of mending in the absorbing new medical daily set in an idyllic lakeside clinic, “Flickering Hearts – Lifeline, Loveline” (100 x 44’).
