Two editions each of Nursery Times My First Crinkly Newspaper and My First Crinkly Comic, featuring Bing, the much-loved, award-winning pre-school series from Acamar Films, are now available at retail.
The new titles bring Bing’s familiar world to life through engaging sensory formats, introducing young children to first words, concepts, everyday experiences and familiar stories. The Nursery Times newspapers are based on the popular Bing episodes Frog and Smoothie, while the Crinkly Comics feature Bing: At Home and Bing: Matching Colours.
The award-winning Crinkly newspapers and comics concept, honoured for the sixth year in a row at this year’s Junior Design Awards, is the creation of designers Jo Joof and Nicola Moore, who say: “Bing is an ideal choice for the first-ever licensed character to inspire the Nursery Times crinkly titles. It’s a property with child development at its heart and an enormous visual appeal, both of which are central to the ideals of our publications.”
Rocket Licensing, which manages the Bing licensing programme in the UK and Ireland, says the new titles have already received a positive response from consumers.
Heather Crossley, Publishing Director at Acamar Films, says: “We’re delighted that consumers are responding in such a positive way to this innovative, award-winning format. We think Nursery Times is a perfect partner for Bing and we’re thrilled that so many parents and caregivers agree.”
The innovative formats launched in late September 2026 and are available through Waterstones, independent bookshops, toy shops, baby boutiques, gift shops, baby play cafés, museums, galleries and zoos, as well as a range of online retailers.
The launch has been further supported by the appointment of Bounce Sales and Marketing to distribute the range in the UK and internationally. With expertise in licensed character distribution and a strong portfolio of children’s publishers, Bounce will support the titles with its knowledge of independent children’s publishing and specialist children’s book sales networks.
Robert Snuggs, MD of Bounce Sales and Marketing, says: “Supporting Acamar with this wonderful and innovative publication is both an opportunity and a delight. It has clear appeal to kids, parents and booksellers and, of course, a popular and brilliantly relatable pre-school star in the form of Bing.”
Rob Wijeratna, Joint Managing Director of Rocket Licensing, adds: “We knew from the start that this would be an innovative and synergistic partnership for all parties involved – and so it has proved. This is an ideal format, perfect for helping babies and young children engage with Bing and the themes the show explores.”
Bing’s relatable stories and themes are created with child development experts, helping young audiences explore emotions, build language and strengthen early reasoning and social skills. This makes Bing a natural fit for the Nursery Times formats, which are designed for babies and young children from three months to three years.
Lightweight and easy for little hands to hold, the crinkly newspapers and comics encourage young children to explore bright, bold illustrations independently. The sensory crinkle element and high-contrast imagery can also make the formats particularly appealing to children with additional needs and visual impairments.
Safe, washable and designed to last, the titles are also practical for parents and carers, making them easy to take along for days out or keep close at hand at home.
Nursery Times and Crinkly Comic were created by designers Jo Joof and Nicola Moore, who met while working in children’s publishing and went on to build their own business together. Inspired in part by Jo’s niece, who has special educational needs, Jo and Nic developed the formats to combine strong visual design with sensory appeal for babies and young children.
Nursery Times now has more than 100 titles in its range and Jo and Nic have received numerous accolades, including this year’s Gold award at the Junior Design Awards in the best baby book 0-2 years category, their sixth accolade in this category over the past six years.
With emotional authenticity, relatable storytelling and universal appeal at its heart, Bing has built a loyal audience around the world. The series continues to reach millions of young viewers through television and digital platforms, while its stories and characters have expanded into publishing, licensing, experiential, audio, music and educational content. At its heart, Bing gives parents and grown-ups a valuable way to help young children understand their emotions, navigate everyday experiences and build the skills they need for life.
