Europe has cemented its position as a powerhouse of the global brand licensing industry, and France sits firmly at its heart. According to the last study published by Licensing International , the European licensing market reached $79.3 billion in retail sales in 2024, a 3.4% rise that outpaced inflation, with Western Europe alone accounting for $67.4 billion of that total.
Within this landscape, France stands out. Licensing International data shows French licensed sales grew 4.8% in 2024, the strongest performance among Europe's largest markets, ahead of Germany (+4.4%), Italy (+2.2%) and the United Kingdom (+1.7%). The momentum extends to the toy aisle: Circana reports that across the EU5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK), licensed toy sales rose 14% in 2025, double the wider market, and now account for 31% of all toy sales in Europe.
These figures confirm what the industry already senses on the ground. Entertainment remains the dominant property type in Europe at 53.9% of sales, followed by corporate brands at 25.7%, while fashion and experiential categories accelerate fastest. France — home to globally resonant IP, a sophisticated retail network and a deep publishing and animation heritage — is uniquely placed to convert these trends into commercial success.
It is against this backdrop that France Licensing Day & Licensing International Awards returns to Paris today, on 30 June, for its fourth edition. Hosted at the Pavillon Chesnaie du Roy in the Parc Floral de Paris and organised by the Global Licensing Group (Informa) in partnership with Licensing International France , the event is the annual meeting point for the entire French licensing community, bringing together rights-holders, agents, manufacturers, retailers and distributors under one roof.
For international players, France Licensing Day is the natural gateway into the region. Attendees connect directly with the French brands shaping the international market, from Astérix and Emily in Paris by Netflix to 24H Le Mans, Moulin Rouge, and The Little Prince, and also receive an extensive overview of global franchises relevant in this region, while the conference programme spotlights the trends defining the year ahead. The day culminates in the Licensing International Awards, celebrating the most successful French licensing projects of the past season.
In a market growing faster than its European neighbours, France Licensing Day offers a single, focused entry point to one of the continent's most dynamic licensing ecosystems — and a clear invitation to anyone ready to build their next success story in France.
