Salamander: Probably world’s most famous fire salamander

BRANDORA Redaktion - März 2012

For many, many years Lurchi has been embarking on countless adventures and discovery trips around the world.

Everything begun in the basement of Jakob Sigles’ shoemaker’s workshop in Kornwestheim. It was quite comfortable in the basement between large bales of leather. In return for this comfortable home Lurchi had to perch on the salamander company logo during the day. However, standing stiff as a stuffed salamander is far from being fun. One day Lurchi got fed up with his daytime job. He took his hat and shoes from his box and went off to discover the world. Utterly incredibly, what strange things happened to him and everyone wanted to read about it. So the comic artists Heinz Schubel, Brigitte Smith, Enrique Puelma, Friederich Johann Nickel, Georg Nickel, Peter Krisp, and Dietwald Doblies started telling his stories in 1952.

On his adventurous trips Lurchi soon made new good friends. He wouldn’t have been able to master some of the trickier situations without Igelmann, Unkerich, Hopps, Mäusepiep, and Piping. Oh, how much he enjoys remembering his past adventures, especially his trip to Mars. That was one small step for a Lurchi, but one giant leap for animal-kind. His message remains unchanged: You have nothing to fear if you wear sturdy shoes and have both feet firmly on the ground. And you will be able to accomplish extraordinary things if you walk bravely and safely through life.

Salamander licenses the Lurchi brand to companies that show genuine interest in long-term cooperation and manufacture goods for children aged between 1 and 8 years.
