Small SIKUs – Fantastic Fun

SIKU - March 2011

Small format, small price, but striking appearance, outstanding quality, and excellent fun

These are the most distinctive features of SIKU’s successful model cars for farming, road traffic and aviation in 1:87 scale. In 2011 the company adds outstanding new products to different segments to extend their already large portfolio of miniature cars.

Road traffic and construction sites
The new rotary tower crane (1899) by Liebherr proves that even a model in 1:87 scale can rise to real greatness: The 40 cm model towers high above all other pocket-sized vehicles. Two new gift sets with different construction vehicles complement the existing construction site segment. A typical US school bus tops off the road traffic range.

Trains
The SIKU train segment welcomes a nostalgic yet child-appropriate new member: the steam engine with carriage (1657). Engine and wagon feature the same coupling system so that children may attach innumerable goods wagons or carriages to form virtual endless trains.

Aviation
Loops, turns, spins, dives and tailspins. Now children can imitate all these stunt flying manoeuvres with the new sport airplane (1865) that feels really good in young hands.

Farming
At present the Fendt 939 (1868) is the most powerful tractor model and dominates farming – not only in original scale. The mighty model dominates the scene with a single model, a forestry tractor (1861) fitted with logging crane and log trailer, as well as a tractor with twin tyres and plough (1862). A New Holland tractor in combination with cattle trailer (1863) or tanker trailer (1860), tops of the farming category.

Wide range of topics: From sports car to garbage collection truck

Exclusive sports cars like the Porsche Panamera (1446), the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport (1353) and – last but not least – the Mercedes SLS (1445) fitted with gull wing doors just like his ancestors’ herald the new product launches. An ultra-fast Porsche Panamera taxi (1692) and the equally fast Cup-Race-Porsche (1456) mounted on a Porsche 911 chassis and a mighty Dodge Charger (1468) dressed like an American fire engine supplement the existing portfolio of passenger cars.

The new SIKU models in 1:50 scale vividly illustrate the many possible applications of the Mercedes Actros. Products range from livestock carrier (2713) and two cows to a lorry for ready-mixed concrete (3539), a winter service vehicle (2939) fitted with snow plough and grit hopper, a semi trailer (3537) and a garbage collection truck (2938). All models a mostly made of metal and feature countless functional details.
