European Brand Manager (m/f)

POSITION SUMMARY

The European Brand Manager Learning Products will be located in Cologne and reports to the Team Lead Private Brands Europe. The task contains all Learning categories namely Infant, Preschool- and Wooden-Toys, Games and Puzzles, Science, School and Arts&Crafts products. S/he will serve as the brand steward and gatekeeper for the European market. S/he is responsible for the execution of the own brand strategy for the Private Brands Bruin, EduScience, Pavilion, Totally Me and Universe of Imagination in Europe. S/he will be the primary manager supporting the designated market’s Private Brand merchandising objectives and product development activities across all European retail channels. The European Brand Manager will work closely with the US and Hong Kong based Global Private Brand, Sourcing and QA teams, as well as with the European merchant partners across the focus brands. Together with the Brand Managers for the Brands of other categories s/he will lead a pool of 3–4 Assistants.

Key Tasks:
  • Responsible for the execution of the Toys´R´Us Private Brands strategy for the Learning brands Bruin, Universe of Imagination, EduScience, Totally Me and Pavilion
  • Primary Manager for supporting own brand merchandising objectives and product development activities across all European retail channels
  • Close collaboration with the US and Hong Kong based Global Private Brand Development, Sourcing, QA and Packaging Teams and the European merchant partners
  • Own the range plan of the respective brands and actively drive commonality between the European countries
  • Support the market merchant partners with relevant analytics and everything needed for country´s processes such as samples, pictures, product descriptions, eCom content etc.
  • Evaluate and manage sales and product flow to optimum support levels
  • Identification of trends, hot products and categories that prevail in the market
  • Leading a pool of three to four assistants together with the other Brand Managers
  • Reports into the Team Lead Private Brands Europe

 

Your Profile:
  • Bachelor´s degree or comparable experience in buying and/or product development in the Retail or Toy industry
  • In excess of 3 years of experience in buying or brand management
  • Ideally specific market knowledge in Toy or comparable Hardlines products
  • Fluent in English and German
  • Experience of working in a Global environment with the relevant cultural awareness
  • Advanced understanding of product development tools and timeline, package design, text translations, QA processes, production and shipping cycles
  • Intermediate to expert skills and experience in profit and loss operation, market analytics and merchandise planning
  • Ability to work flexibly and the resilience to understand and work within the parameters of the role
