ICECOOL wins the Children’s Game of the Year 2017 Award!

AMIGO - June 2017

The penguin flipping game ICECOOL from AMIGO is Germany’s best Children’s Game of the Year 2017! That’s what the expert jury announced at this year’s awards ceremony in the Atlantic Hotel Hamburg on 19 June at 11 a.m.. Thus the innovative game of dexterity wins the highest ranking jury award for children’s games on the German toy market.

Tina Kraft reads the expert jury’s statement:
“And they say that school is not cool. School really is cool, ice-cool. Once the arena has been set up, playful people of all ages just have to flip the penguins along the ice. The learning curve is steep – with a little training you will manage astonishing tricks. With this game, everything is perfect: Brian Gomez combines an original story, impressive design, highly-detailed illustrations, and a demanding task to form an ideal type of dexterity game.”

A team of four designers from Riga published ICECOOL under the pseudonym Brian Gomez. They are visibly proud of the award and described their state of emotions as “amazing”. The responsible AMIGO editor Uwe Mölter is also really happy about the blue pawn and remembers: “When we played this game for the first time – mind you, in a group of grown-ups – we started feeling like children again. That’s why to us ICECOOL is not only a children’s game, but a game for every generation.”

With ICECOOL players try to flip their penguin pawns through school doors to catch fish and win points. What adds to the excitement: One player always has the task to catch his fellow players. When you master the right techniques, your pawns slide straight on, skid around the bend, and even hop over the walls! But the pawns not only jump along the board, they also appeal to the eyes. Thanks to lovingly designed details the whole material draws all gazes to the game. The gaming board is made of five boxes that fit into each other and thus create a 3D build-up.
