UK production house World Media Rights (WMR) today announces a range of broadcast partners for its forthcoming documentary series ‘Greatest Events of World War II in HD Colour’.

Discovery in the UK, N-TV in Germany and Planete+ in France have acquired the rights to air the 10 x 50’ series that charts the crucial moments of the Second World War. Planete+ acquired the series from ZDF Enterprises, the commercial arm of German public broadcaster ZDF, who is distributing the series in the rest of the world.

‘Greatest Events of World War II in HD Colour’ uses archive footage, much of it previously unseen, acquired from over 39 sources including rare library footage from Japan and Russia and processed with state-of-the-art colourisation software.

From the Blitzkrieg of Germany’s tanks across Europe to the Battle of Britain; from the War in the Pacific to D-Day and to the horrors of Hiroshima, the series documents the conflict in unflinching detail, once again bringing the greatest global struggle the world has ever known to a new generation in vivid colour.

‘Greatest Events of World War II in HD Colour’ is the follow up to WMR’s hugely successful ‘World War II in HD Colour’ which was narrated by Robert Powell and sold in over 55 countries around the world.

World Media Rights’ Alan Griffiths and David McNab are Executive Producers.

Alan Griffiths, CEO of World Media Rights, said: ‘WMR is at the forefront of action adventure series for the international market and ‘Greatest Events of World War Two in Colour’ fits perfectly into our portfolio. It will appeal to history binge watchers around the world.’’
