MGA and Bratz in court-ordered receivership

According to US media reports, MGA Entertainment has been placed into court-ordered receivership early this week. In addition, district judge Stephen Larson lifted the stay on a general ban that prevents MGA from marketing any Bratz related products.

Thus Mattel now celebrate their final victory over MGA after a long-time lawsuit for the rights on the Bratz brand. The Bratz collection made MGA globally successful and was even able to replaced Mattel’s Barbie as number one fashion doll.

Larson ordered independent receivership suspecting Isaac Larian and MGA Entertainment to be involved in ‘fraudulent transfers of assets and violations of Mattel's ownership’ of the Bratz brand and assets.

Receiver Patrick A. Fraioli shall now preserve and protect Bratz assets, investigate financial operations following the court ruling in July 2008 and avoid further damage for those doing business with MAG.

MGA founder Isaac Larian intends to appeal immediately.
